Part-time Day Course BTEI Initiative Employment Skills 4M0857
The Employment Skills course is an introductory Part-time programme which offers participants an award at QQI Level 4. We offer two options in this very popular course in Employment Skills.
Course Description
One course includes service industry subjects – Entrepreneurial Skills, Customer Service and Personal Effectiveness and the second one focuses on English language for non-native speakers of English.
The course runs from September to May for 12 hours each week. Classes are timetabled to take place four mornings each week from 9.50 to 1pm each day. Eligible students may be entitled to part-time crèche places under the CETS scheme.

Students may wish to progress to a full-time course in English Language with Business and Preparation for IELTS at QQI level 5 award which is offered in the college. IELTS is the international testing system which tests English fluency across the world. IELTS measures the ability of students to communicate in English across four language skills of Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. It is recognized internationally by universities and third level colleges as a means of entry to their courses.
Course content may be revised for educational or organisational reasons.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal qualifications required. Applicants should have a standard of knowledge, skill and competence equivalent to NFQ level 3 when accessing a level 4 programme. Applicants must have a motivation to learn, and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course.
What is BTEI?
The Back to Education Jobs Initiative (BTEI) enables adults and young people over the age of 16 to return to learning in a positive and supportive environment. Classes are small and personal attention is assured. Students in receipt of social welfare payments and health board benefits are also eligible and do not have to pay fees.
Eligible students may be entitled to part-time creche places under the Childcare, Employment and Training Scheme (CETS scheme). Courses are part time and begin in September through to the end of May each year.
